YLNI the VOTE releases candidates brochure, hosts candidates night Sept. 15

(September 12, 2011) – Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana (YLNI) is educating its members and the general public about the upcoming local election with a non-partisan candidates brochure and a candidates night Sept. 15 as part of the YLNI the VOTE initiative to educate and inform local voters.

The candidates’ brochure, which includes responses from candidates running for Mayor, City Clerk, and City Council, is currently available to download. Hard copies of the brochure will be available at YLNI’s Candidate Night, 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, or at a variety of locations throughout Fort Wayne starting next week. YLNI does not endorse candidates.

YLNI the VOTE Candidates Night will allow YLNI members and the general public the opportunity meet with the candidates one-on-one. Candidates will have an opportunity to briefly introduce themselves, and the mayoral candidates will have an opportunity to answer one pre-determined question.

“YLNI the VOTE wants to continue the increase in voter education and turnout. Our members, and the general public for that matter, want to know the candidates are accessible and we hope the unique setting of our Candidate Night provides that type of personal access,” Sam Graves, YLNI Vice President said. “YLNI works every day to engage and empower young leaders in our community. YLNI the VOTE, a non-partisan educational effort, fits with our mission to help emerging leaders get their voices heard.”

Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana is a dynamic group that is connected to our community and committed to making it a vibrant and viable place to live, work and play.
