Parkview to host upcoming events

(August 29, 2011) — Parkview will host several upcoming events.

 

A community forum on diabetes will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7 at the Allen County Public Library’s downtown branch, 900 Library Plaza. For more information, call (260) 373-4280.

The programs below will be held at the Parkview Women’s Health Center on the Parkview North campus, entrance 2, 11123 Parkview Plaza Dr. Registration is required by calling (260) 672-6500.

 

Senior Stretch
9:30-10:30 a.m. Mondays Sept.12-Oct. 31

Class routine includes chair, standing and floor exercises. Sessions focus on controlled stretching and muscle strengthening. The cost is $50 for Women’s Health Center members and $60 for non-members.

 

Evening Yoga
5:30-6:30 p.m. Sept.12-Nov. 2

Stretches and poses coupled with relaxed breathing renews a sense of calm, flexibility and strength. The cost is $45 for Women’s Health Center members and $55 for non-members for one evening per week or $90 for Women’s Health Center members and $110 for non-members for two evenings per week.

 

Ask the Dietitian
3:30-5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14
Schedule 15 minutes with registered dietitian Julia Just to have nutrition questions answered. The event is free.

 

Women’s Checkup Day
5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20 and 7-9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21
$35 for Personal Wellness Profile, including Blood Chemistry 17 test. Other services include additional lab testing, free bone density test and free colon cancer kit.

 

Finding Freedom When Living in an Addictive Family
6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29

Guest speaker Susan Tielker-Sharp will share information on rebuilding families and how to establish healthy relationships and provide information on clinically-based treatment options. Free for Women’s Health Center members and $5 for non-members.

 

The programs below will be held at the Parkview Comprehensive Cancer Center on the Parkview North campus, 11143 Parkview Plaza Drive, entrance 4. For more information on the free programs, call (260) 266-9166.

 

Chemotherapy, Biotherapy & You
1-2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1 and Thursday, Sept. 15

Patients will learn how treatments work, potential benefits and side effects and self-care measures to prevent and minimize side effects.

 

Answers from a Cancer Expert
1-3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13 and Tuesday, Sept. 27

Patients and family members can receive easy-to-understand answers to questions in a one-on-one setting with a clinical nurse specialist.

 

Oral Cancer Screenings
5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29

Free screenings performed by Dr. Timothy Frey, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Associates.
