News release from the Hughes for Mayor campaign:
Hughes welcomes Skillman endorsement
Touts Skillman’s Leadership in Indiana’s Restoration
Former Allen County Council President and candidate for Mayor of Fort Wayne Paula Hughes received the official endorsement of Lt. Governor Becky Skillman during a luncheon in support of the Hughes mayoral campaign.
“I am pleased to have the highest ranking female in state government here in Fort Wayne to support my candidacy for mayor,” Hughes said. “It’s an honor that such an accomplished leader would take time out of her busy schedule to stress the importance a better Fort Wayne means to the State of Indiana.
The Daniels/Skillman administration has been a national model of fiscal discipline, sound budgeting, and creating an environment where businesses thrive and grow.
“Lt. Governor Skillman worked with Governor Daniels and the state legislature to get Indiana’s fiscal house in order after decades of wasteful spending and ballooning debt,” Hughes said. “She knows that those same problems are holding Fort Wayne back and that I have a track record of cleaning up financial crises. I am proud that leaders like Lt. Governor Skillman realize we need to cut wasteful spending and reduce the half a billion debt right here in Fort Wayne so we can get our community working again.”
