News release from Fort Wayne Community Schools:

Last delay day scheduled for June 1

Fort Wayne Community Schools will have its final weekly 30-minute delay of the school year on Wednesday, June 1.

When the schedule for the Wednesday delay days was established in the fall, the last delay day was set for June 1 as the school year was slated to end June 8. With the cancellations earlier this year, the last day of school is now June 13. Despite the change in the last day, the final delay day remains June 1.

Students should arrive in time for the normal time (8:55 a.m. for elementary and 7:30 a.m. for middle and high school) on Wednesday, June 8.

Throughout the school year, the weekly 30-minute delay gave teachers time to meet and work together. They spent time learning about the best ways to reach their students and how to analyze data to make decisions to ensure all students are educated to high standards. Having time to work together and in teams gave teachers the opportunity to learn from each other as well as from expert sources.
