The War Within: Leadership Bootcamp
Yewande Austin brings message of cultural understanding to IPFW

(March 31, 2011) – Student Life and the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs are proud to present “The War Within: Leadership
Bootcamp” on Saturday, April 9, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is open to all Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW)
students and will take place on campus. Participation is free and students will receive breakfast, lunch, a t-shirt, and concert. The
event is funded by IPSGA.

Special guest Yewande Austin is a social activist and R&B artist who has performed with the likes of the Black Eyed Peas, India Arie, Sean Paul, and Enrique Iglesias. Austin will educate students on the need for greater racial tolerance and cultural understanding.

Austin is founder and executive director of the Global Institute for Diversity and Change (formerly the Change Rocks Institute) which produces innovative educational programs that encourage leadership excellence, cultural understanding, and social justice across the globe.  Her work as an award-winning educator, activist, and public speaker is her greatest achievement along with recently being named an honorary cultural ambassador to the United States Embassy.

“The Spring Leadership Retreat will provide attendees a chance to look introspectively at who they are as students, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, in the multicultural world that we live in,” says Mieszcanski.
