Stutzman Travels to Middle-East to Gather Facts on Economy
(Washington, D.C. – March 21, 2011) – Congressman Marlin Stutzman (IN-03) will be traveling throughout Saudi Arabia during this current legislative recess. The trip will tour many Saudi Arabian cities to learn more about gaining access to international markets for Hoosier manufactured and agricultural products. Traveling to Saudi Arabia will help to answer the questions of unrest in the Middle-East and Northern Africa and how that impacts America and our economy. Agriculture is always hit when the price of crude oil increases and this is already showing up in increased food costs. Improving knowledge on fluctuations in the oil market and the affect on the value of the dollar which can cause issues with the debt ceiling and other budgetary concerns.
“This trip will be informative especially in understanding the Saudi economy.” Stutzman said “With all of the unrest in the Middle-East and the rising cost of oil, now is the time to find out where we stand with the Saudis including on national security issues. It is important to understand the trade between our countries and how that relates to Northeast Indiana, especially in relation to agricultural goods and equipment. A stronger relationship between Saudi Arabia and Midwestern businesses can only help improve trade.”
