Snow Emergency Continues
Mayor Henry Urges Residents to Stay Home
Next Media Briefing Scheduled for 11:00 AM

Snow Emergency ContinuesSnow Emergency Continues “Stay Home” is the message from Mayor Tom Henry as plow truck drivers continue working around the clock to battle the latest wintery blast.

“If motorists venture out and get stuck on a side streets it prohibits our plow crews from properly clearing the street and that hampers our ability to keep streets open for emergency vehicles. At this time we are asking that travel be restricted to emergency vehicles only,” said Mayor Henry at a morning news conference.

Henry joined County Commissioner Nelson Peters, and representatives from the Street, Highway, Police, Fire, Utilities, Parks, 911 and 311 Departments to relay information to the media about the current blizzard conditions.

Last night, Mayor Henry along with the County Commissioners declared a Level One Snow Emergency for the entire county. The level one declaration restricts travel to emergency vehicles only.

“I am committed to doing everything possible to get our streets open soon for residents, businesses and our schools as soon as possible,” said Henry.

City offices are closed today but the City’s 311 Call Center is open for residents to report a non-emergency concerns.

Trash pick-up will be delayed at least one day.

At this hour, more than 50 plow trucks are out clearing our streets. And some are getting into side streets and residential streets.

The City along with the County will re-evaluate the conditions at mid morning. A media briefing will be conducted on the first floor of the City County Building at 11:00 AM today.
