Press release from the Allen County Board of Commissioners:
Road Conditions in Allen County Upgraded
County, cities of Ft. Wayne & New Haven go to Level 4 Caution at midnight
Allen County and the cities of Fort Wayne and New Haven will upgrade their winter weather status to a Level 4 Caution beginning at midnight and continuing until further notice. Level 4 means conditions continue to exist that limit or hinder travel in isolated areas. No travel restrictions have been placed in effect, but citizens should be alert to changing conditions.
While County Highway Department crews have made significant progress plowing many of the high traffic routes in unincorporated Allen County, overnight drifting on rural roads could create hazardous driving conditions — especially in the early morning hours prior to sunrise. Crews worked to clear and treat county highways through 6 p.m. Wednesday. They will resume working on highways at 3 a.m. Thursday, but will also be available should an emergency situation arise overnight. Motorists are reminded to slow down when behind or approaching County Highway vehicles and to give them plenty of room to operate.
All Allen County government offices are scheduled to reopen Thursday. Highway conditions in Allen County will be reevaluated and an update will be provided Thursday morning.
