Blood Drive Collects 101 Units from County and City Employees
98 workers donate the “Gift of Life” at 2nd winter event

(January 24, 2011) – Employees of Allen County and the City of Fort Wayne made today’s Winter Red Cross Blood Drive at the City-County Building the most productive in the history of the event.

According to the Red Cross, 98 people showed up to participate, surpassing the original scheduling goal of 90. Thanks to 11 donors who were able to give double the usual amount of blood, the Red Cross was able to collect 101 productive units, beating the original goal of 75 units. The blood collected has the potential of saving as many as 303 lives.

This was the second year for the winter blood drive, sponsored by the Allen County Commissioners and the City of Fort Wayne. The 11th annual Summer Blood Drive is scheduled for June 21.
