…HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW POSSIBLE TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT…

.A STRONG UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE OVER THE CENTRAL PLAINS THIS AFTERNOON WILL SHIFT EASTWARD AND INTENSIFY THROUGH THE OHIO VALLEY TUESDAY AND TUESDAY NIGHT. A BROAD AREA OF LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW WILL OVERSPREAD MUCH OF THE AREA BY DAYBREAK TUESDAY AND CONTINUE INTO EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING BEFORE GIVING WAY TO INTENSE LAKE EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS OVER NORTHWEST INDIANA AND EXTREME SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN.

WIDESPREAD SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF GENERALLY 2 TO 4 INCHES IS EXPECTED NORTHWEST OF A KNOX TO STURGIS LINE AND 3 TO 6 INCHES SOUTHEAST. ADDITIONAL HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS IN EXCESS OF 8 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE BEGINNING TUESDAY NIGHT AND CONTINUING THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

* TIMING…MODERATE SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP LATE TONIGHT AND CONTINUE INTO WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

* MAIN IMPACT…SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 3 TO 6 INCHES ARE EXPECTED WITH THE HEAVIEST AMOUNTS ACROSS SOUTHERN COUNTIES.

* OTHER IMPACTS…MOTORISTS WILL LIKELY ENCOUNTER RAPIDLY CHANGING CONDITIONS…WITH SOME ROADS BEING SNOW COVERED AND SLIPPERY.
