On December 15, 2010, Republican Jim Mc Coy announced he would be seeking the Fort Wayne City Council’s 5th District seat.
He will probably face incumbent Democrat Tim Pape. Â Pape hasn’t made an official announcement regarding his decision whether or not to seek an additional term.
One of the items Jim talked about in his original announcement, which AFW had to miss, was the City of Fort Wayne’s debt situation which Jim put at some $400 million. Â We talk about that figure during the interview featured here. Â I also received the following in an e-mail from him:
The $400 million is not going to be entirely accurate. But it’s a good starting point.
That figure was total long term debt at the start of 2010.
The debts figures you get depends on where you look and who you ask.
The latest budget shows $129.5 million, but that is likely not a total that includes all long term debt and “unfunded obligations”.
