IPFW’s Stuff the Semi Collects More Than 4,000 Items for the Holidays

(December 15, 2010) – The Indiana-Purdue Student Government Association (IPSGA) collected more than 4,100 items during its Stuff the Semi event at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW). During the first week of December, the IPFW student government group accepted donations to fill a large semi trailer donated by International Truck and Engine. The proceeds benefited the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission Ministries and the Community Harvest Food Bank of Fort Wayne.

The event was a great success in my heart,” said Shatease “LaShay ” Powers, IPSGA Stuff the Semi Coordinator. “There was no money
spent to run the event. Subway donated five box lunches per day, Higher Grounds donated coffee for a day, and IPSGA shared their food resources. All the volunteers were students, with 25 in total. By Friday at 5 p.m., inventory was complete and items were separated and labeled. We collected more than 4,100 items; 1,300 items were non-perishable foods.”
