CANI awarded tax credits for housing project
(November 8, 2010) – CANI (Community Action of Northeast Indiana) announces the awarding of a $598,195 in federal low-income housing tax credits from the Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority (IHCDA) for the development of the Hopewell Pointe housing project.
CANI and Keller Development have teamed up to develop a 35 -home lease-to purchase community called Hopewell Pointe to be located in the 1900 block of Reservation Drive in Waynedale. The total cost is $5.7 million and will generate approximately 200 jobs through the construction period and will employ two individuals as property manager and maintenance personnel.
The community will be the first of its kind in Fort Wayne based on all of the homes being within one subdivision offering a lease-to purchase option. Plans call for a community building, pavilion, gazebo, walking paths and other amenities.
Homes will be offered to individuals and families with a purchase option after 15 years. In addition to other criteria, applicants must income-qualify. The program is designed to provide an incentive for residents to stay long-term.
