Press release from the Tom Hayhurst for Congress campaign:

Hayhurst to visit Biomet, speak to Goshen Rotary Club

Democratic Congressional candidate Dr. Tom Hayhurst will be making multiple campaign stops in the western part of Indiana’s third congressional district on Friday, August 27 to speak at the Goshen Rotary and to tour the Biomet Facility.

Hayhurst’s first stop will be at the Goshen Rotary. Rotary International is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide, who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Hayhurst will be speaking at the Goshen Rotary at 11 AM on Friday. Dr. Hayhurst was a recent recipient of the Paul Harris Award from the Fort Wayne Downtown Rotary Club.

Hayhurst’s second stop will be in Warsaw at Biomet. Biomet is a medical device maker in Warsaw and is a major employer in northeast Indiana. Indiana’s third district has one of the highest rates of unemployment in the state, and medical manufacturers like Biomet have recently been affected by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Hayhurst has been outspoken about a provision in the bill which imposes a new tax on medical equipment, and wants to see it repealed immediately. “The tax on medical equipment is the wrong way to fund healthcare and should be repealed immediately,” Hayhurst said. Hayhurst will be touring the facility at 2 PM on Friday.

“My wife, Judy, and I are lifelong 3rd District residents. We are deeply connected to this corner of Indiana. It is where we raised our family, where we worship and volunteer our time. Like you, it is the place we are proud to call home. As your Congressman, I will work hard to keep it that way and make it better for all of us.” Hayhurst said.
