CANI Head Start sites receives grants for playgrounds

Two CANI Head Start sites received grants from the Head Start Body Start National Center for Physical Development and Outdoor Play (HSBS) to fund the cost of playgrounds.

The CANI Head Start site in Whitley County, 107 N. Walnut St. in Columbia City, and the site at the Salvation Army, 2901 N. Clinton St. in Fort Wayne, received funding to improve their play spaces.

Funding for HSBS is provided by the Office of Head Start (OHS), Administration for Children and Families, US Department of Health and Human Services. Approximately 380+ grants will be given each year for four years (2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012)

CANI Head Start is a free, comprehensive development program. It meets educational, health, nutritional, and social service needs of low-income
preschool children, ages 3 to 5, and their families in Allen, Noble, and Whitley counties.
