Hayhurst announces “Walk across the District” tour

(July 9, 2010) – Democratic Congressional candidate Dr. Tom Hayhurst today announced the details of an upcoming “Walk Across the District” tour. The tour will include stops in all eight counties, beginning this Saturday, and will focus on job development, the economy, and Education.

“Last month alone, U.S. employers cut 125,000 jobs while our unemployment rate lingered at nearly 10%. Our children’s future is on the line and it is clear that we cannot afford to send another career politician to Washington. I’m not concerned with pleasing Party leaders; rather I will be an Independent voice in Washington fighting on both sides of the aisle to bring jobs back to Indiana.” Hayhurst said.

Hayhurst will kick off his district-wide tour on Saturday, July 10th. The tour will kick off in Allen County. Tom will attend the Three Rivers Parade and then head to Forest Park Elementary and Columbia City to lead the door to door canvass. For the duration of the campaign, Hayhurst will be walking across the district from Allen to Dekalb counties meeting with local residents, walking in parades, and knocking on doors to talk face to face about the important issues at hand.

“My wife, Judy, and I are lifelong 3rd District residents. We are deeply connected to this corner of Indiana. It is where we raised our family, where we worship and volunteer our time. Like you, it is the place we are proud to call home. As your Congressman, I will work hard to keep it that way and make it better for all of us.” Hayhurst said.
