What’s Happening at Foellinger Theatre July 7 – 16

Planet 51 Movie: Wednesday, July 7, 8:30 pm, FREE
American astronaut Captain Charles “Chuck” Baker lands on Planet 51 thinking he’s the first person to set foot on it. To his surprise, he finds that this planet is inhabited by little green people who are happily living in a white picket fence world, and whose only fear is that it will be overrun by alien invaders…like Chuck! Knights on the Town & Alley Kats: Thursday, July 8, 8:00 pm, FREE
This is the night for Big Band listeners! Also, the famous Alley Kats add their tap-dancing skills to this concert.

Shade ‘N Shannon: Friday, July 9, 8:00 pm, $4
A full band sound production featuring Mr. Shade Jonze on guitar/vocals and Shannon Persinger on tambourine/vocals with back tracks. Well known songs like “Ring of Fire” and “Folsom Prison Blues” are intertwined with early tunes like “Home of the Blues” and fun songs like “A Boy Named Sue”. Shannon covers the music of June and Roseanne Cash and Shade covers the music of Johnny Cash.

The Wisla Song and Dance Ensemble: Tuesday, July 13, 8:00 pm, FREE
This ensemble of young students direct from our sister city of Plock, Poland is here to share their native songs and dances. The group performs wearing costumes from their country.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs Movie: Wednesday, July 14, 8:30 pm, FREE
Based on the children’s book, this animated adventure follows a scientist who tries to solve world hunger only to see things go awry as food falls from the sky in abundance. This is the most delicious event since macaroni met cheese. PG. Sponsored by 97.3 WMEE.

John Branam’s Little Swing Band: Thursday, July 15, 8:00 pm, FREE
Tonight’s concert features familiar Big Band sounds as performed by the John
Branam’s Little Swing Band.

Gary Puckett of Union Gap Fame: Friday, July 16, 8:00 pm, $15
Gary Puckett and the Union Gap was one of the most successful musical groups of the sixties. Gary’s unmistakable signature voice garnered six consecutive gold records and top ten Billboard hits including “Young Girl,” “This Girl is a Woman Now” and “Over You.” Although Gary disbanded The Union Gap in 1971, he continues to tour nationally and internationally. Concert tickets may be purchased on-line through the Monday before a concert at www.fortwayneparks.org or at the Parks & Recreation office Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm, 705 E. State Blvd. You may also purchase tickets at the box office starting at noon the day of the show.
