Volunteers needed for Parkview Hospice

(June 17, 2010) – Parkview Home Health & Hospice is in need of volunteers to help hospice clients and their families with various tasks. Volunteers are needed in Allen County.

Volunteers typically donate one to four hours of their time per week. Volunteers are especially needed during the day to stay with patients so caregivers can rest or leave for appointments.

Examples of volunteer duties:

  • Record videos of patients sharing their life stories
  • Play a musical instrument to entertain and comfort patients
  • Sit at patient’s bedside
  • Visit with patient

An information session will held from 1-3 p.m. Friday, July 9 at the Parkview Home Health & Hospice office, 1900 Carew St., Suite 6 in Fort Wayne.
In addition, interested individuals must complete a training class before beginning volunteer opportunities.

Schedule of classes

  • 12:30-4:30 p.m.
  • Fridays – July 23 and 30, and August 6, 13 and 20 at the Parkview Home Health & Hospice office, 1900 Carew St., Suite 6 in Fort Wayne
