About the Allen County Air Quality Task Force
The task force was created in 2004 by the Allen County Commissioners to develop strategies to reduce the amount of pollutants released into the air. Partners in the effort include Allen County and Fort Wayne officials, the Fort Wayne-Allen County Department of Health, along with representative from the Northeast Indiana Regional Coordinating Council, Citilink and the Greater Fort Wayne Area Chamber of Commerce.

As always, the task force is asking residents to “do what you can do” to make the air safer for everyone to breathe. Some simple steps include:

  • Avoid idling vehicles
  • Delay lawn mowing and refueling vehicles until after 7 p.m.
  • Use public transit or carpool
  • Walk or ride a bicycle when you can
  • Maintain your vehicle’s proper tire pressure
