Germanfest 2010: Monday events – 6/7/2010


Germanfest events continue today.

The Bier tent opens Wednesday at Headwaters Park.    Visit the official Germanfest website for more detailed information.

Today’s events include:

12:15 pm - Germanfest Organ Concert at the Plymouth Congregational Church at 501 E Berry St.
Robert Nance, organist, will be performing various musical selections from famous German composers for your listening pleasure. Sponsored by the Fort Wayne Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

1:00 pm - Children’s Chicken Hat Party at the downtown Allen County Public Library main branch at 900 Library Plaza.
Come and make a chicken hat and learn to do the chicken dance! Everyone is welcome! Materials to create your chicken hat will be available in the Children’s Services Department at the Main Library downtown, from 1:00 to 2:00PM. For more information, contact Mary Voors at (260) 421-1220.  Free Admission!

5:00 pm - Köstritzerabend at Club Soda at 235 E Superior St
Celebrate Köstritzer Schwarzbier Nacht, at Club Soda. Thüringer Brats and Kostritzer Schwarzbier will be available for your enjoyment on the patio. The German Heritage Society will be your hosts for an evening of German food, music and fun, with music by Alac Sanders & Band from Gera, Germany.

6:30 pm - Maßkrugstemmen Kontest at Club Soda at 235 E Superior St
Join ROCK-104’s Stone & Doc in this annual arm-to-the wall contest pitting people against steins of beer. The winner is the person holding the extended stein of beer the longest, without spilling!

7:00 pm - Sprechen Sie Duetsch? at the Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Community Center at 233 W Main St
Participate in a fun experience of basic German for tourists. Frau Marianne Klaffke will instruct you in such an enjoyable manner you will actually learn! Refreshments will be served. Try a little German, you will be glad you did!

7:00 pm - Piano & Organ Recital at the First Wayne Street UM Church at 300 E Wayne St
Enjoy this annual musical event sponsored by NIMTA, the Northeast Indiana Music Teachers Association. Admission is FREE!
