Sam Locke, Democratic candidate for State Auditor, was in town recently.
I had the opportunity to interview him about his campaign. Â We also talked about the campaign process for the State Auditor’s position.
Each party’s Auditor candidates are not decided during the primary elections, but rather are chosen at the respective party’s state conventions. Â They are selected by voters in the general election in November. Â There are a few state offices that are chosen in that manner (Secretary of State, Treasurer, Auditor – to name a couple).
Anyone have a clue why? Â I’ve asked several this question, but no one seems to have an understanding why this system was set up.
Enjoy the interview!
