Allen County Videos Now Available On Demand
County joins with ACPL to provide free service(April 23, 2010) – Video programming provided by Allen County government that airs on public access television will now be available on the Internet – any day and at any time.
The Board of Commissioners today ratified an amendment to its current interlocal agreement with the Allen County Public Library for the new streaming video-on-demand service being provided by Leightronix, Inc. of Holt, Michigan. The service will be available to the public at no cost.
Under its deal with Leightronix, ACPL will be able to make up to 500 hours of video programming available on-demand. The County will be allotted 150 hours for its County Commissioners, County Council, Planning Commission and Board of Health meetings and any other programs which are recorded and played back on public access TV. The County will provide a link from its home page to the web interface where the videos can be accessed. Â (Webmaster’s note: Follow this direct link)
As part of the agreement, the Commissioners will increase the County’s quarterly payment to ACPL from $8,000 to $8,250 to help cover the cost of the new service. The current agreement between the County and ACPL for public access television service is due to expire at the end of this year. The Commissioners can then evaluate the value of the video-on-demand service and decide whether to renew it as part of a new interlocal agreement.
