CANI seeks participants for Youth Savings Program

CANI (Community Action of Northeast Indiana) is seeking participants for What CANI Earn? a program that utilizes Youth Individual Development Account(YIDA)s for college savings and teaches students money management skills.

YIDAs are matched savings accounts. CANI will match the amount students save up to $100 for three years; a $300 total match.

Participants must meet the following qualifications:

  • Must be a freshman in high school
  • Must agree to attend the YIDA orientation, eight hours of financial literacy classes and quarterly meetings
  • Must use the money for educational expenses

Thirty students will be chosen to participate based on essays written about their plans for saving and future educational goals. Applications will be accepted from May 1-May 28.
