…ACCUMULATING SNOW TO AFFECT THE AREA ON FRIDAY AND FRIDAY NIGHT…

.AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE MOVING OUT OF THE CENTRAL PLAINS WILL COMBINE WITH A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVING ALONG THE GULF COAST AND SPREAD ACCUMULATING SNOW OVER THE AREA TODAY INTO EARLY SATURDAY. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 5 TO 7 INCHES ARE EXPECTED BY MID DAY SATURDAY FROM MARION TO DECATUR IN INDIANA AND VAN WERT TO LIMA IN OHIO. LESSER AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED FARTHER NORTH OF THIS AREA. IN ADDITION TO THE SNOWFALL…NORTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 15 TO 25 MPH BY THIS EVENING RESULTING IN BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM THIS MORNING TO 10 AM EST SATURDAY.

* TIMING…SNOW WILL BEGIN THIS MORNING AND CONTINUE THROUGH EARLY SATURDAY.

* MAIN IMPACT…SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 3 TO 5 INCHES ARE EXPECTED…WITH THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL EXPECTED TONIGHT.

* OTHER IMPACTS…NORTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 15 TO 25 MPH BY THIS EVENING CAUSING BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES…AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING. BLOWING SNOW WILL FURTHER REDUCE VISIBILITIES AND ALSO CAUSE DRIFTING OF SNOW IN OPEN AREAS.
