Adult Hobby Classes
Deadlines Approaching

Why not try a new hobby in 2010? The Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department is offering the following classes for adults:

Home Repairs Basics, Tuesday Jan. 12, 6 – 9 pm.
Join us for this “hands-on” home improvement series that will give you confidence to repair or replace electric cord plugs and lamp fixtures; patch and repair drywall holes or cracks; and complete seasonal home maintenance. Registration deadline: Jan. 5. Fee: $28. Location: Community Center, 233 W. Main St.

Beginning Stained Glass, Tuesdays Jan. 12 – Feb. 9, 6 – 8:30 pm.
Beginners will learn by creating a stained glass project of 15 pieces or less. Students may choose from several patterns. All necessary tools and materials will be provided. Please wear closed-toe shoes and a long sleeve shirt. Registration deadline: Jan. 5. Fee: $83. Location: Community Center, 233 W. Main St.

Introduction to Watercolor, Tuesdays Jan. 12 – Jan. 26, 6 – 8:30 pm.
In this beginning class, you will learn many basic watercolor techniques including values, color mixing/ blending, washes, glazing, dry brushing, texture and more. You’ll also complete three 5″ x 7″ pictures. A watercolor kit (yours to keep) is provided for you. Registration deadline: Jan. 5. Fee: $69. Location: Community Center, 233 W. Main St.

The Art of Calligraphy, Thursdays Jan. 14 – Jan. 21, 6 – 8 pm.
You can learn this delightful art form and dress up just about any writing project. All you need is lined notebook paper and calligraphy pens in narrow, medium and wide. (Please note: These pens come in right and left-handed orientations. Right handers, please purchase felt tip pens. Left handed pens come only in metal.) Children ages 11-15 may register with an adult at the special adult-child rate. Registration deadline: Jan. 7. Fee: $24; Adult/Child Fee: $29. Location: Community Center, 233 W. Main St.
