Saturday, the chain saws were fired up and the trees lining Calhoun Street between Washington Boulevard and Berry Street were removed.
It is, obviously, an entirely different looking street. Â This post is not about whether or not it should be happening or whether it’s the right plan, so please – no comments about that. Â What I do want to draw your attention to is some of the faÃ§ades revealed. Â There are some beautiful buildings in that area. Â Let’s enjoy them in the interim before the canopy fills back in.
In particular is 817-819 South Calhoun. With it’s red sandstone insets and rounded brick corners, it’s a beautiful building.
