TinCaps Encourage Food Donations this Weekend
The Fort Wayne TinCaps, Society of St. Andrew, and Community Harvest Food Bank to accept can donations Friday, Saturday & SundayThe Fort Wayne TinCaps and Society of St. Andrew are sponsoring a “Feeding the Hungry” weekend at Parkview Field on May 29, 30 and 31. The team will be accepting canned food donations at each game. The TinCaps will be play host to the Burlington Bees on Friday at 7:05pm, Saturday at 7:05pm and Sunday at 3:05pm.
Mike Nutter, President of the TinCaps, Rebecca Aurand, Resource Development Director of Community Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana, and David McCleary, representative of the Indiana Society of St. Andrew Hunger Relief Organization are encouraging all individuals attending these games to bring canned vegetables, fruits, soups, etc., and place them in the marked containers at both the North and South gate entrances of Parkview Field.
This weekend the Society of St. Andrew has also partnered with the South Bend Silver Hawks, a Minor League Baseball team that plays in the Midwest League with the TinCaps, to collect food throughout their weekend series as well.
All collected food will be donated to the Community Harvest Food Bank. Community Harvest provides resources to greater Fort Wayne area food agencies to help feed hungry families during these difficult economic times.
