Press release from the TinCaps:

Bass’s Flawless Week Earns League Honor
MWL Pitcher, Batter of the Week to meet this week at Parkview Field

The Fort Wayne TinCaps are off to a perfect 10-0 start to the season. RHP Anthony Bass has led the charge, firing 12 scoreless innings in the season’s first week to earn Midwest League Pitcher of the Week honors on Monday.

Bass was the TinCaps’ Opening Day starter April 9th in Lansing, when he worked six shutout innings against the Lugnuts. He allowed three hits and struck out four. Bass then silenced the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers’ bats on April 15th, going six innings, allowing three hits and striking out six. The Trenton, MI native picked up the win in both starts and has not walked a batter this season.

The Midwest League Batter of the Week was Billy Nowlin of the West Michigan Whitecaps (Class-A Detroit Tigers). Nowlin hit .455 (10-for-22) on the week with two doubles and 10 RBIs in just six games.

Bass is expected to make his Parkview Field debut Tuesday at 7:05pm as West Michigan visits Fort Wayne for a four-game series. Bass is the projected starting pitcher Tuesday, likely pitting the defending Pitcher and Hitter of the Week against each other head-to-head as the top two teams in the MWL’s Eastern Division square off in downtown Fort Wayne.

At 10-0, the TinCaps are one of just two undefeated teams in all of Minor League Baseball and are on the longest winning streak in franchise history. Fort Wayne aims to continue its sizzling start this week as the historic Opening Homestand at Parkview Field rolls on. Tickets are available for all four games of the series against West Michigan, with ticket prices starting at just five dollars.

Tuesday’s clash between the top two teams in the Eastern Division begins at 7:05pm. On Wednesday, the TinCaps and Whitecaps play an 11:05am game. A 7:05pm first pitch is slated for “Thirsty Thursday,” when the TinCaps offer $1 beers and $2 well drinks at Parkview Field. The TinCaps and West Michigan finish the four-game series Friday at 7:05pm as “Jackson Night” ensues, a tribute to historic Jacksons including (but not limited to) Civil War General Stonewall Jackson, former President Andrew Jackson and former Fort Wayne relief pitcher Jackson Quezada. Fans are encouraged to wear their favorite Jackson apparel to Parkview Field for a Jackson-tacular celebration.

The upcoming series is the last chance to see the TinCaps at home in the month of April. Their next home game after Friday is slated for Saturday, May 2nd.

Fans can order tickets online at TinCaps.com, by phone at (260) 482-6400 or in person at the Parkview Field box office.
