Opening Day Weather Watch

One of the things that amazes me is how unpredictable the weather really is.  I’ll check the forecast at the beginning of the week for an event at the end of the week, and by the time the day finally arrives, the weather is completely different.  I know, I know, I should check the forecast daily, or just wait until the day before.  But sometimes, I forget or don’t have time, and that first impression sticks with me.

So, I’ve decided to conduct an experiment for next week’s Opening Day at Parkview Field.  Every night at 11 o’clock, I will check the two local television station’s forecasts to see what they’re predicting for Thursday, April 16, 2009.  I will also check The Weather Channel as well as WFFT-55 (which uses a combination of weatherforyou.com and The Weather Channel).  The one exception for this will be on Thursday at which point I will check mid-morning.  I will keep this page updated with the forecasts over the coming week.  In this manner, we’ll be able to see who called it the earliest and most accurately.

This will be an interesting experiment to watch unfold.   This week’s poll question, which will end Monday at midnight, allows you to predict which weather station you believe will get it right.  I’m not going to predict a winner as I’ve not had luck with any of the venues.  If you think there’s another venue that should be added, send me an email at the link at the top of this page on the menu bar and I will consider it.
