Aunt Millie’s Celebrates Aunt’s Day with a $40,000 Gift to the Make-A-Wish Foundation®

Aunt Millie’s is donating more than $40,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® as a part of its annual Aunt’s Day campaign. Aunt Millie’s donation will help grant the wishes of children battling life-threatening medical conditions.

Aunt Millie’s donated one cent for every loaf of bread sold between February 15 and March 14, 2009, for a total of $40,126.21. Marsh Supermarkets made a matching gift of one cent for every loaf of Aunt Millie’s Bread sold in Marsh stores during the same time period, for an additional $833.85 contribution to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“The customer support for our Aunt’s Day campaign exceeded our expectations,” remarked Marketing Director Melissa Dunning. “We are pleased to partner with such a beloved organization doing important work for in our Aunt Millie’s communities.” The contribution will be split between Make-A-Wish Foundation Chapters in Aunt Millie’s territories in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois and Michigan.

“I’m deeply grateful for Aunt Millies’ generosity during these uncertain economic times. While bread is a staple food in every American household, hope is nourishment for our wish children,” said Susan McConnell, president & CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. “This gift will enable us to grant several wishes and bring hope to a child facing uncertain futures.”

  1. And for the info of those that may not be aware, John Popp, 3rd generation owner of the bakery is a prime Fort Wayne supporter of Allen County Right to Life – so he is for bringing those conceived into breathing life – instead of killing them. Thank you John!
