Any idea why they are Yellow Taxi Cabs? It was convention time Sunday at the downtown Taco Bell.

In 1960, New York required all of the taxi’s to be painted yellow, to help cut down on non-official and non-licensed taxi’s. Prior to this, around 1920 a russian immigrant created a taxi company called the Checker Cab Company, who had black and yellow checkered cabs.
