There is a City Council meeting this evening at 5:30 pm at the City-County Building. Â There are two items of importance on the agenda, well, they are all important, but two more so than the average resolution or ordinance. Â
First on the agenda is a public hearing for the proposed tax abatement changes as put forth by Council women Liz Brown and Karen Goldner. Â Later in the Committee Session, the Council will discuss the changes as put forth. Â A final vote on the ordinance will probably take place at next week’s meeting.
Following will be a presentation by Jim Irwin, of Barry Real Estate. Â He will be giving an update of The Harrison which is the condominium/retail portion of Harrison Square. Â There has been revamping of the condominium portion of the project, including cutting the number of units from 62 to around 30. Â They have also had difficulty in obtaining construction loans for the project which is understandable given today’s economic crisis in this country.
