Deputy Mayor Mark Becker Resigns

According to the City of Fort Wayne website, Deputy Mayor Mark Becker has resigned as Deputy Mayor.  He will be going to the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership as Director of Regional Development and Executive Director of the Northeast Indiana Foundation.

Mark has been a great asset to the City over the years, serving in various capacities in four administrations.  His willingness to spend time answering various questions and provide information will be missed.  An all-around nice guy, he will be missed.  Good luck in your new positions, Mark!

Deputy Mayor steps down to accept regional development position
Mark Becker served in four mayoral administrations; begins dual responsibility with Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership

Mayor Tom Henry announced he’s accepted the resignation of Deputy Mayor Mark Becker, effective May 31, 2008. Becker, who has served in four mayoral administrations (Moses, Helmke, Richard and Henry), held the post of Deputy Mayor under Graham Richard and since Mayor Henry took office.

“Mark has been an enormous asset and made significant contributions to my Administration and to City government over the last many years,” said Mayor  Henry. “We will miss his valuable expertise, insight and perspective, but we are lucky that he is remaining in our community to continue the good work we are all trying to do in promoting Fort Wayne and northeast Indiana.”

Mark will be joining the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership as Director of Regional Development and Executive Director of the Northeast Indiana Foundation.  He will be tasked with leading the efforts of the Foundation in building economic development capabilities throughout the region.  Filling an important role within the Partnership, Mark will focus on supporting regional economic development throughout northeast Indiana

Mayor Henry expressed his gratitude to Becker for his assistance as Mayor Henry settled into office. “I am grateful to Mark for staying on to help with our transition phase,” said Mayor Henry. “Mark has been integrally involved with many of the biggest projects in the City’s recent history and the community is better for having had him serve.”
