IU Health announces construction and expansion in Fort Wayne
(April 19, 2019) – Indiana University Health will expand its footprint in Fort Wayne with the construction of a 25,000 square foot medical office building in northeast Fort Wayne at the intersection of Stellhorn and Lahmeyer Road. This facility will include primary care, an outpatient imaging center, laboratory services, urgent care and community rooms to support the needs of Fort Wayne residents.
IU Health representatives signed the building contract in April and will begin construction on the medical office building in May 2019.
“IU Health is committed to giving residents of Fort Wayne new options for high-quality care,” Brian Bauer, president of IU Health Fort Wayne, said. “This new facility will serve as an important step in creating access in one location to the convenient and personalized care we provide our patients.”
Bauer said IU Health Fort Wayne will also add a Primary Care office on the north side of Fort Wayne. The approximately 10,000 square feet of space, located at 10215 Auburn Park Drive off Dupont Road is expected to open in July.
Additionally, the existing primary care office on Engle Road is now offering behavioral health services via telehealth.
“We have heard numerous comments from patients telling us, anecdotally, that receiving behavioral health services delivered via video visits is easier for patients,” Bauer said. “And we are meeting a critical health need for the community with the introduction of this healthcare service.”
The expansion of services supports IU Health’s goal of enhancing well-being in the Fort Wayne community while meeting demand for primary care by bringing new providers into the market.
IU Health is establishing a long-term presence in the Fort Wayne market. The first IU Health Fort Wayne Primary care medical office opened in August 2018 at 7230 Engle Road, Suite 100.
