Game recap from the TinCaps:
Spectacular TinCaps Pitching Not Enough Before Sellout Crowd
Fort Wayne falls 1-0 in 10 innings to Lansing
(May 18, 2016) – Despite a terrific pitching performance, the TinCaps dropped the middle game with the Lansing Lugnuts, 1-0, in 10 innings before a sellout crowd at Parkview Field on Wednesday afternoon.
The TinCaps (20-19) allowed just five hits to the Lugnuts (19-17), who plated a run in the 10th inning on a pair of hits.
Fort Wayne starter Logan Allen worked four shutout innings and surrendered just two hits and a walk to go along with four strikeouts. Fellow southpaw Jerry Keel followed with three scoreless stanzas. Righty Phil Maton then fanned four over a pair of perfect frames.
Gerardo Reyes (L, 2-1) gave up a one-out, ground-rule double down the right-field line near the bullpen in the 10th. Two batters later, Lugnuts second baseman Gunnar Heidt scored on a sharply struck infield single to first.
Lugnuts relievers Josh DeGraaf (W, 3-3) and Dusty Isaacs (S, 5) worked three shutout innings in relief of starter Jon Harris, the 2015 first-round pick of the Blue Jays.
