News release from the TinCaps:
TinCaps President Earns Prestigious Award
Nutter Receives Better Business Bureau’s Individual of Integrity Award
(April 22, 2016) – TinCaps President Mike Nutter received the Better Business Bureau serving Northern Indiana’s 2016 Individual of Integrity Award. Nutter was presented with the accolade at the 11th Annual Torch Awards for Marketplace Trust on Thursday.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by the Better Business Bureau,” Nutter said. “I work with an amazing staff and owner, and we have done our best to treat people with integrity and respect at all times. We’ve created a culture of accountability and want everyone to understand that this region is our home. We want to make this a better place to live, work, and play. I’m truly grateful for this award and appreciate everything the BBB stands for.”
This is the second major award Nutter has received in recent months. Last December, Nutter was recognized as the 2015 Midwest League Executive of the Year at the Baseball Winter Meetings in Nashville. It was the third time he garnered that honor.
Nutter, 42, has been working in Minor League Baseball since 1992. This is his 17th season in Fort Wayne, and his 16th as team president.
Under Nutter’s leadership in 2015, the TinCaps were awarded Minor League Baseball’s John H. Moss Community Service Award. Of Minor League Baseball’s 160 clubs, the TinCaps were the lone recipient. Meanwhile, the team set multiple franchise attendance records in 2015. The TinCaps, in their seventh season at Parkview Field, averaged more fans per game for a season (5,971) than ever before and had their most fans ever for a single game (9,193) on the Fourth of July.
Away from Parkview Field, Nutter is a married father of an 11- and 12-year-old. He not only helps coach his son’s travel baseball team, but he also volunteers his time with a number of local organizations, including Erin’s House for Grieving Children, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Greater Fort Wayne, Inc., and Visit Fort Wayne.
