USF Earth Day Events
(April 12, 2016) — The University of Saint Francis is hosting a series of Earth Day events April 21-22 on the USF campus, 2701 Spring Street.
Thursday, April 21:
- Ecology Club Fair – 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.; Pope John Paul II Amphitheater
- Guest Speaker: David Radcliff, “You’re getting warmer… Searching for causes and cures in a rapidly warming world,” at 7 p.m., Achatz Hall, Gunderson Lecture Hall
David Radcliff is director of the New Community Project, a faith-based nonprofit organization based in Peoria, Arizona with a national network of 11,000 individuals, collaboration with congregations, schools and colleges all across the country, and partnerships in six countries abroad. Founded by Radcliff and others in 2003, NCP focuses on environmental sustainability and global justice, offers intergenerational Learning Tours to Myanmar, Nepal, South Sudan, the Arctic, the Amazon and Central America, and has a special interest in empowering youth and young adults.
Friday, April 22:
- FREE! Earth Day Tree Planting Workshop by Mark Ringenberg of Hoosier ReLeaf, noon – 2 p.m.; north side of Trinity Hall in the north grove.
The community is invited to help USF plant 20 trees (or just come to watch and learn). Trees provided thanks to a grant from SERVE Indiana. Hoosier ReLeaf will lead the workshop and provide trees and tree preparation. Neighborlink is providing equipment for the workshop.
