News release from the Allen County SPCA:
Allen County SPCA to participate in Petsmart Charities National Adoption Weekend, February 13th
(February 11, 2016) – If you’ve been thinking of adopting a new four-legged family member, consider doing so at the PetSmart Charities National Adoption Event, Saturday, February 13 at PetSmart at 10260 Maysville Road in the Chapel Ridge Shopping Center in northeast Fort Wayne. Save a pet’s life and enrich your own with the pure joy that only a tail wag can bring, as puppies, kittens, dogs and cats from the Allen County SPCA will be available for adoption. The shelter at 4914 S. Hanna Street will be closed as staff and volunteers take part in the adoption event.
As always the Allen County SPCA will be offering same-day adoptions for families who are fully prepared to add a pet to their homes. “We encourage people to come out to PetSmart this weekend, meet with the dogs and cats, and take their animal home the same day,” said executive director, Jessica Henry. All animals will be adopted on a first come, first served basis, but priority will be given to pre-approved adopters. Anyone interested in adopting this weekend can find the application on the shelter’s website. “We are grateful to PetSmart Charities for their commitment to pet adoption. They have been a wonderful partner for our shelter, and we appreciate the opportunity to participate in this big, national effort.”
Hours are: noon until 4p.m.
Pet adoptions will benefit the Allen County SPCA, which will receive $35 in adoption-reward grants from PetSmart Charities for every pet they adopt in stores during this event.
