Tech Stays First in Midwest Group Ratings, has Eight Wrestlers Ranked First
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (November 17, 2015) – The Indiana Tech wrestling team was ranked first in NAIA Team Midwest Group Ratings and had eight wresters ranked first in their respective weight classes, the national office announced on Tuesday.
Tech received 222 total team points in the first regular season poll and maintains the top spot in the Midwest Group after accumulating 208 votes in the Preseason edition.
The Warriors had 12 wrestlers ranked in the top six in their respective divisions, including eight that held the top spot.
Sawyer Miler (125 pounds), Mitch Pawlak (133), Travis Barroquillo (141), Thomas Garty (149), Chase Hack (157), John Weldon (165), Jacob Johnson (174) and LJ Grayson (184) all claimed first in their respective weight classes.
Matthew Miller (133) and Robert Humphrey (141) were both ranked second, while Justin Atkinson (149) and Bo Davis (197) made the first regular season edition at fourth.
The NAIA will release the first edition of the regular season Coaches’ Top 20 Poll on Wednesday. The Orange and Black were ranked third with 73 total team points in the Preseason rankings.
