History Center’s Buffalo Tro Raises Money for Local School Group Visits
(September 23, 2015) – This year marks the History Center’s tenth year throwing its annual Buffalo Tro. The money raised during this unique fundraiser, which involves tossing buffalo steaks onto a bed of blazing hot coals, is a significant contribution to the History Center’s Heritage Education Fund.
Believing that a firsthand experience with history should be available to all students, the History Center puts every dollar raised through the Buffalo Tro towards making field trips possible for students in area schools. As a result, over 200 school groups visit the History Center each year free of charge.
The event takes place at 5:30pm, Friday, September 25 at the Chief Richardville House, 5705 Bluffton Road. The $50 reservation includes a catered dinner, tours of this national historic landmark, entertainment by local group the Jug Huffers, a beer tasting with Mad Anthony Brewing, silent auction, and of course, buffalo steaks. Tickets and more information is available at www.fwhistorycenter.com or by calling the History Center at (260) 426-2882.
