Official details, outside of the announcement of the Grand Marshall, have not been released yet.
However, I’m betting the route will be the same as well as the start time, 10:00 am.
Announcement of the Grand Marshall:
2009 National City Parade Selected Grand Marshal – Lloy Ball, 2008 Summer Olympics Volleyball Gold Medalist
Fort Wayne Newspapers Three Rivers Festival is pleased to announce the National City Parade Grand Marshal – Lloy Ball, a 2008 Summer Olympics Volleyball Gold Medalist. A Fort Wayne native, Ball attended Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) from 1991-1995 and was part of the varsity volleyball team. Last year Ball led Team USA to the first gold medal in 20 years without losing even a match and was selected as “Most Valuable Player” and “Best Setter” by FIVB World League in 2008.
Bridget Kelly, Chair of the Parade Committee, states, “The National City Parade Committee is very excited to welcome Lloy Ball as our 2009 Grand Marshal. His Olympic achievements are a perfect example of just how far imagination – along with hard work and dedication – can propel someone towards the fulfillment of their dream”.
The National City Parade will take place Saturday, July 11th in downtown Fort Wayne. Over 130 units participate annually including 10 local marching bands. For additional information regarding the marshals or parade information, please call the Three Rivers Festival office at (260) 426-5556.
