Space Still Available for Summer TechCamp Sessions
(June 4, 2015) — There’s still time for high school students to sign up for one of the 2015 Northeast Indiana Tech Coalition Summer TechCamp sessions.
TechCamp is an exciting week-long summer camp for students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). It offers a mixture of leadership, collaboration, and STEM teaching. TechCamp integrates students with local businesses that are on the cutting edge of technology. It is an opportunity for students to not only learn more about potential careers, but also integrate their knowledge with real world scenarios. This year’s TechCamp host companies are Franklin Electric and Lutheran Health Network. The City of Fort Wayne, Allen County, ATOS, Greater Fort Wayne and Ivy Tech are partners in the Northeast Indiana Tech Coalition.
The camp is designed to engage young talent before they leave the region for college, and show them the incredible STEM career opportunities available at employers right here in Northeast Indiana. The mission is to stop the “brain drain” and cultivate homegrown talent for local employers in those sectors in greatest need.
Students who have completed the 9th, 10th or 11th grade from all high schools in the Northeast Indiana region are invited to register to attend one of two sessions – July 20-24 at Ivy Tech Northeast or July 27-31 at the University of St. Francis. Each camp session is limited to 20 students. The fee is $200 per student to help cover the cost of dorm rooms, travel, and food throughout the week. Financial aid is available for those needing it.
