News release from the Fort Wayne Fire Department:
House Fire, 2624 Maumee Avenue
(June 2, 2015) – At 4:31 PM, the Fort Wayne Fire Department received calls reporting a house fire at 2624 Maumee Avenue. Initial calls stated that there was fire showing from a second floor window. On arrival 3 minutes later, FWFD started an interior attack on the structure. The fire was quickly extinguished and under control in 9 minutes. Crews checked for extension and no extension was found. The source of the fire was found to be an unattended candle in the upstairs bedroom. No occupants were home at the time of the fire. 1 bird was rescued from the home.
AEP, NIPSCO, TRAA and FWPD assisted at the scene.
