Fort Wayne TinCaps: Ballpark Digest’s Team of the Year

(November 11, 2014) – After six years, the Fort Wayne TinCaps set attendance records and had the best year in
team history. For sustained success and an amazing commitment to community service, the Fort Wayne TinCaps franchise is the Team of the Year in the annual Ballpark Digest awards.

After six years, most minor-league baseball teams start to lose some steam, but we’re seeing the opposite at Parkview Field, where the Fort Wayne TinCaps are setting attendance records and becoming more entrenched in the local community. That makes the TinCaps Team of the Year in the annual awards from Ballpark Digest, the leading
guide to ballparks and baseball on the Internet.

The TinCaps and Parkview Field were instant successes, as fans from the very beginning embraced the new downtown ballpark. But owner Hardball Capital and team management didn’t rest on their laurels; instead, they’ve embarked on a program to consistently renew fan interest in the team, with enhanced game offering and offday activities.

“The TinCaps really embrace the notion of community service as part of its mission,” said Kevin Reichard, Ballpark Digest publisher. “A TinCaps game is great fun for everyone, and on that alone the team would be a winner. But add in the community service and commitment to Fort Wayne, and you have one of the most noteworthy teams in all of baseball.”

“It’s an honor to be selected as Ballpark Digest’s Team of the Year,” stated TinCaps President Mike Nutter. “It sounds cliché to say, but we don’t do what we do for recognition or awards. We strive to make an impact in our community on a daily basis, whether it be welcoming guests to Parkview Field or being out in the community. This area has responded with their tremendous support and we don’t take that for granted.”
