Animated Holiday Windows Designers Revealed

(November 5, 2014) – The Embassy Theatre selected window designer Nena Brown of NDB Designs, Graphic Design, Web Design & Marketing and Stan Sheets of the History Center to create the 2014 Holiday Animated Window display that is open from Nov. 26 through Jan. 1. The windows, sponsored by Fort Wayne Metals, are reminiscent of the holidays in downtown Fort Wayne when locally owned department store Wolf & Dessauer unveiled beautiful decorated windows for Christmas. The windows showcased animated elves, Santa and other holiday characters in a wonderful holiday story.

From 2009 to 2013, Corner House owners and designers David and Kathy James, with local animator and designer Don Johnson created new animated characters and illustrated a holiday story in the windows. This year the first two windows along Harrison Street will be decorated by Stan Sheets, long-time window designer for L.S. Ayres and Macy’s, utilizing some original Wolf & Dessauer characters owned by the History Center. The remaining seven windows will feature the story Brown created of “Merry Mouse” and her journey from Fort Wayne to the North Pole to become one of Santa’s toymakers.

“Fort Wayne Metals launched this project more than five years ago with the Embassy and it’s been wonderful to see the windows become a family tradition for Fort Wayne again,” said Kelley Updike, Embassy Theatre executive director. Additional window sponsors are NIPSCO, Mike’s Carwash and Shindigz.

The animated holiday windows debut on Night of Lights, Nov. 26, and can be viewed through Jan. 1. The windows are located at the corner of Jefferson and Harrison along the west side of the Embassy.
