News release from the Downtown Improvement District:
Fright Night 2014
(September 25, 2014) – Fort Wayne’s most anticipated Halloween event is bigger and better than ever—the 7th annual Fright Night Downtown is Saturday, October 18th. With over 25 spooktacular activities for people to enjoy throughout the day and evening, Fright Night is a family-friendly event with something for everyone!
Download the 2014 Fright Night map
Events begin at 10:00am with “Not so Frightening Fun” (craft making) at ACPL Children’s Services, the “Pumpkin Zone” at the Botanical Conservatory and “Cow Eye Dissections” at Science Central. Creep over to the parking lot at 431 W. Berry for another great Science Central event “Catapult Chaos” where zombie heads (pumpkins) will fly as teams compete in this annual event.
Things really get bubbling in the afternoon with kid-friendly activities at the Community Center, including a “Halloween Haunt” with special performance by Fort Wayne Youtheatre and a trunk or treat “Car Show Spooktacular”. At the Allen County Public Library Plaza you can register for 3Rivers Federal Credit Union’s “iFright Prize Package Giveaway”, take part in the “Costume Contest” produced by Fort Wayne Museum of Art and enjoy live performances, activities and “Zombie Machine” face painting by TAG Art in preparation for the infamous “Zombie Walk”.
Join the ranks of the undead as the “Zombie Walk” parades along Wayne, Harrison, Columbia and Calhoun streets. The parade will be less than a mile long and rivals some of the largest zombie walks in the country, with thousands of costumed zombies taking to the streets!
It just wouldn’t be Fright Night without getting locked in the History Center’s “Old Jail” or the Embassy Theatre’s annual “Spooky Stories”, this year they will be showing three Halloween features on the big Screen.
Activities for all ages abound with live music and a scavenger hunt at Parkview Field, a bonfire at the Courtyard by Marriott and the special Halloween performance “Pandora’s Box” at Fort Wayne Dance Collective. Get spooked with Arch’s “Haunted Site Bus Tours” and kick up your bones at the Grand Wayne’s “Ghostly Gala” or Cinema Center “Braineater’s Ball”. An “Old Fort Lantern Tour” is sure to thrill and the Botanical’s “Rocky Horror Picture Show” is always a favorite way to time warp the night away.
New this Year: We are pleased to announce new activities for Fright Night 2014:
