2014 Hotel Fitness Championship kicks off volunteer recruitment
Web.com Tour tournament seeks 600 volunteers for a variety of committees that will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis

(April 21, 2014) – Volunteer recruitment for the 2014 Hotel Fitness Championship is now open. The tournament, hosted by the Western Golf Association, is seeking 600 volunteers to serve on a variety of committees from Aug. 25-31 at Sycamore Hills Golf Club. Committees will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

“Volunteers are vital to the success of the Championship, and we hope members of the Fort Wayne community will get involved as either chairpersons or volunteers,” said Duke Butler IV, tournament director, on behalf of the WGA. “There are volunteer opportunities for both avid golfers and non-golfers. For area residents and visitors, volunteering is one of the best ways to be a part of the action and contribute to the tournament’s ultimate success. Last year’s volunteer turn-out was phenomenal, and we hope this year is even better.”

Volunteer schedules will be specific to the committee to which the volunteer is assigned. Some committees will begin working Monday while others start Thursday of Championship Week. All volunteers are asked to work a minimum of three shifts spanning approximately 15-20 hours. Volunteers are asked to purchase the 2014 Hotel Fitness Championship Volunteer Package for $50, which includes:

  • Two logoed golf shirts
  • One hat or visor
  • Volunteer credential, valid for volunteer’s entry to the Championship all week
  • Food and beverages on days you volunteer
  • One Weekly Grounds Ticket for guest entry to the Championship

The Hotel Fitness Championship is one of four Web.com Tour Finals events for 2014 that will determine the 50 players who earn cards for the 2014-15 PGA TOUR season under the TOUR’s enhanced qualifying system.

Players who are eligible for the Hotel Fitness Championship include the top-75 money winners on the Web.com Tour at the conclusion of the Regular Season; players who finish 126-200 on the PGA TOUR’s FedExCup points list at the end of the TOUR’s Regular Season; and, any non-members who earn enough points to place them among 126-200 on the FedExCup points list at the end of the Regular Season.

Those interested in volunteering can submit an official volunteer application by visiting www.HotelFitnessChampionship.com and clicking the “Volunteer” link.
