Beier Named to Indiana Emergency Response Commission
(August 12, 2013) — Governor Mike Pence has appointed Bernie Beier, director of the Allen County Office of Homeland Security, to serve on the Indiana Emergency Response Commission.
The IERC is charged with maintaining certain hazardous chemical records in the state as well as supervising and coordinating the activities of Indiana’s 91 local emergency planning committees. Each local committee has the responsibility of developing an emergency response plan to deal with accidental chemical releases from facilities in its county and with making available to the general public chemical information submitted by those facilities.
The IERC consists of 13 members appointed by the governor. They represent local and state government, industry and the public. Beier will represent local government on the commission.
