News release from the City of Fort Wayne:
Free Community Bike Rides Look at Banner Year
Record Turnout for 1st Ride of Season
(May 13, 2013) – Beautiful spring weather is a welcome sight and is expected to lead to another large turnout for this week’s free community bike ride. A record number of residents — more than 170 — turned out for the kickoff of the fourth season of Trek the Trails last Tuesday.
This week’s ride is at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 14 and will begin at Deer Ridge Elementary, 1515 S. Scott Road. The ride will be six miles in length and is sponsored by Franklin Electric.
Trek the Trails is for all ages and abilities and is a great way to see Fort Wayne along the Rivergreenway, the old Wabash & Erie Canal Towpath, the Aboite Trails, the Pufferbelly Rail-to-Trail and even to New Haven’s Moser Park.
The rides begin at 6 p.m. every Tuesday through October 1. There are also longer Saturday rides for more experienced riders. Walks are also scheduled for each event that includes a Trail Mixer. For more information, visit https://cityoffortwayne.org/trekthetrails.
