News release from the Allen County Highway Department:
Work on St. Joe Center Bridge Almost Finished
Eastbound lanes to open later today; Westbound lanes expected to open next week
Work to upgrade and rehabilitate the Saint Joe Center Road Bridge is nearly complete.
The Allen County Highway Department reports that the bridge’s two eastbound lanes are set to be fully open to traffic by the end of today. The two westbound lanes are expected to open sometime next week.
The project involved widening the foundation on the bridge’s north side, replacing the deck and adding beams. Additionally, the sidewalk and deck on the south side was replaced and LED lighting added to the bridge.
Work continues on construction of a trail that will go under the structure on the west side.
R.L. McCoy, Inc. of Columbia City performed the work after submitting the winning bid of $3.4 million.
